Confessions of a golfaholic

Hi! I am a golfaholic. My biggest regret in life is that I didn't start playing golf when I was 2 years old. I started playing when I was 27 years old (2008-09) and have been playing non-stop for almost a year and a half now.

2009 was also the year I got married. I am lucky that I have a very understanding wife. She doesn't mind that I play or practice everyday. What drives her up the wall is when I practice my swing in the middle of conversations and talk about golf all the time!!!

I have started this blog so that I can share my thoughts with other golfaholics.

Today's topic: How to recognize that you are a golfaholic.

1. You practice your swing in the middle of conversations and talk about golf all the time.

2. Every time you see your reflection you check your posture, your takeaway, and your grip.

3. On a hot, sunny day when you see people enjoying other summer activities, you feel sorry for them because your feel that that they haven't "found golf" yet!

4. You call your golf set your second wife.

5. You have a putting mat in your living room.

6. Your favorite TV show is Golf fix - Michael Breed. You also watch Playing Lessons with the Pros, Being John Daly, etc. .... basically anything on the Golf Channel. Also, your favorite movies are Tin Cup, Caddyshack, and Bobby Jones: Stroke of Genius.

7. Your facebook profile picture is a picture of you taking a golf swing. Most of your updates are about golf.

8. The only time you wake up before the alarm goes off or don't hit the snooze button is when you have an early tee time.

9. You feel that vacations that do not include golf are a waste of time and money.

10. You want to live north in the summer because they have longer daylight hours and live in the south in the winter.

11. Whenever you see green grass, you think about chipping pitching.

12. You want to move to the 'burbs because they are closer to the golf courses and you will have more room to practice your swing.

13. Your dream house is one that has a tee block in front of your backyard.

14. You seriously took steps to lose weight and increase your flexibility when you realized that you cannot make your back face the target during the back swing.

15. You have explored career options in golf.

16. You would rather apply to the golf academy than to a B-school.

17. You have golfed in 1C weather and when there was snow on the fairway.

18. You check the weekend weather 5 times a day.

19. Your favorite stores are Golf Town, Dick's Sporting goods, and Nevada Bobs.

20. You want all your family members and friends to learn to play golf.

21. When you hear someone say that they don't have time to golf, you feel that they don't have their priorities straight.

22. You normally don't like to walk, but have no problem walking 4-5 hours on a golf course.

23. You feel that everything is right in this world when you hit the ball pure. You also feel like the scum of the earth when you shank, slice, or hook the ball.

24. You believe in a Golf God. You are scared to cheat on the course because you believe there is a Golf God watching you.

25. You plan to introduce your children to the game as soon as they learn to walk. You are also upset when you see parents encouraging their kids to play other sports.

I hope you enjoyed reading this post. I suspect you show some (if not all) of these signs of golfaholism. If you have some of your own symptoms, please do share them on this blog.
